UCHealth – Rehabilitation Renovation
Howell Construction was hired by UCHealth to remodel the 3rd floor of their Broomfield facility. This finished space has 28 beds on an inpatient floor that had never been used/occupied. The remodel created a new 18-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility and incorporated new furniture, and medical and IT equipment.
This 15,000 square-foot project challenged the team with multiple smaller areas of construction throughout the 3rd floor. To successfully complete the project, we first isolated each area of construction to establish our ICRA barriers and sequence of construction. We focused on the major areas that required new framing, rough-ins, and finishes, which drove the schedule duration without losing track of the detail with ADA modifications to the patient restrooms. Changes from the end users and facilities requirements added scope to the project, requiring overtime and close coordination to meet a critical completion deadline for federal funding.
