Office of the Municipal Public Denfender
Upon relocating to 710 West Colfax Avenue, the Office of the Municipal Public Defender (OMPD) required a full-scale renovation to meet its operational needs. Howell Construction was selected for their proven expertise and commitment to delivering high-quality municipal projects. Significant renovations were completed to enhance both the interior and exterior of the historic building. Key interior improvements included a reconfigured floor plan layout for more efficient office space, installation of new integral ceiling tile and grid, updated light fixtures, accessibility enhancements, and modernized restrooms. Additional upgrades featured custom millwork, new doors, frames, and hardware, as well as essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing improvements to support the renovation.
Exterior enhancements included stucco and brick restoration, asphalt patchback, new site furnishings, and an irrigation system. Notably, the project complied with Denver’s Waste No More ordinance, ensuring responsible recycling and composting of construction materials. The renovation successfully preserved the building’s historical character while significantly improving its functionality.
Throughout the renovation, the Howell team maintained a seamless process that allowed OMPD staff to continue daily operations without disruption. The end result has been well received by both staff and clients, offering a more functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.
