Metropolitan State University of Denver – Brewing Sciences Laboratory Renovation
Located within the historic Tivoli Building on Denver’s Auraria Campus, Howell transformed approximately 5,200 SF into a state-of-the-art Brewing Sciences Lab for Metropolitan State University of Denver.
The project thoughtfully integrates modern brewing education within one of Colorado’s most iconic brewery buildings. Historic stone walls were preserved and showcased behind glass, creating a striking backdrop for specialized learning spaces including a brewing laboratory, fermentation laboratory, quality control and analysis labs, draft training center, and packaging laboratory. Original structural columns were also carefully restored and prominently featured throughout the space, celebrating the building’s rich heritage.
By blending contemporary laboratory environments with the character of the historic Tivoli Building, Howell delivered a one-of-a-kind educational facility where students gain hands-on brewing science experience while immersed in Colorado’s brewing legacy.
