Littleton Public Schools – District Wide Vestibule Upgrades
Howell Construction was selected by Littleton Public Schools to complete a multi-phased security enhancement program focused on upgrading secure entrances across multiple district campuses. The initiative was designed to strengthen campus safety, improve visitor management, and modernize entry experiences for students, staff, and visitors.
Phases I and II were completed during the summer of 2022 and included security upgrades at six schools. Improvements consisted of enhanced door systems, ballistic-resistant glazing, new security cameras and microphones, upgraded access control systems, and interior finish renovations. Building on the success of the initial phases, Phases III and IV were completed during the summer of 2023 and delivered similar security and aesthetic improvements at seven additional schools.
The program required careful coordination across multiple active project sites, with three Howell superintendents managing concurrent construction activities throughout the district. Additional challenges included material procurement delays and long lead times for critical security components. To maintain project momentum, Howell strategically prioritized work that could be completed with available materials while developing temporary solutions to accommodate delayed items. Once long-lead materials arrived, project teams quickly mobilized to complete the remaining installations.
By executing all work during summer breaks when schools were unoccupied, Howell minimized disruption to district operations while successfully delivering critical security enhancements on schedule. The completed improvements provide safer, more secure learning environments and support Littleton Public Schools’ ongoing commitment to student and staff safety.
